Les Rita Mitsouko came together in the Spring of 1979 and debuted with Ringer on the organ and Chichin on guitar, while everything else was prerecorded. They performed around Europe, playing several clubs and bars until finally playing under the name les Rita Mitsouko for the first time in November of 1980.
The band signed to Virgin Records in 1982, giving them their first opportunity to release a single 'Minuit Dansant'. The B-side of the record, 'Don't Forget the Nite,' became a surprise radio hit and was re-released as the A-side soon after. They moved to Cologne and began recording their eponymous debut album, and by the end of 1984 the album was out and 'La Jalousie' and 'Marcia Baila' became big hits in Europe. Ensuing tours with the Smiths and Kid Creole revealed their growing popularity, and by 1986 they were ready to record their second album with producer Tony Visconti. Filmmaker Jean-Luc Goddard filmed the process, resulting in the oddball documentary Soigne Ta Droite.
The No Comprendo was finally released at the end of the year. The band moved to New York in early 1987 to hold auditions for a live band. The following tour, which covered most of Europe, was an enormous success.
Marc et Robert was the next album, written mostly in the studio, and featuring songs written and performed with Sparks. Another tour followed, leading to the construction of the band's new studio in their home. By 1990, they decided to release a remix album (Re) and then released Systeme D in November of 1993. More hits appeared, including a duet with Iggy Pop on 'My Love Is Bad.' A live album was released next, Acoustiques, which sparked another tour through Eastern Europe. Their records were properly released to America in 1999, and following a quiet period they reappeared in 2000 with the Cool Frenesie album.
On Wednesday November 28th 2007, Fred Chichin died from cancer while the band had just cancelled their previous concert dates in Paris. He was only diagnosed with the disease two months before. Perfecttableplan 5 1 1 keygen crack. It was announced on the 8th of February 2008 on the band's website that Catherine Ringer is due to resume touring this April following the death of her partner and Les Rita Mitsouko collaborator, Fred Chichin. Catherine will pick up with the band that she and Fred put together for the release of their latest album 'Variety' on Because Music.
It's true, the igor track I posted is the only track even remotely like that on all six discs. It's a very expensive box with a lot of mild stuff on it, but once you trim down to 'hathor' and 'faust' you're happy good news stormy! For transfers, turntable EQ amp, as loud as possible into the computer, no secrets. Sometimes a little L2 limiting, sometimes I draw out the really nasty crackles, the Waves Restoration kit is helpful but I enjoy a little noise on my transfers. ―, Friday, 26 August 2005 05:35 (twelve years ago). Dunkelziffer In the Night 80s kraut feat. To be blunt but unkind, the short songs that make up the middle of the album flat out suck.
But the kraut meets Roxy Music jams that start and end the album make it more than worthwhile. I didn't remember you said that it featured Damo when i was listening to it this morning and just kept going 'fuck, that really sounds like damo. No wait, that definitely is him'. I actually liked most of the middle songs. It was just new wavey reggae & dub.
I only skipped the second to last song (terrible), and i kinda wish they woulda toned it down on the sax and chorused guitar, but overall it was kinda cool. ―, Wednesday, 31 August 2005 17:15 (twelve years ago). I really need to do a cut up remix of this. I'm sure hundred have already done that by now, but we always need a 101st!.from their second single, also on the Auto Da Fe compilation. I can't call this 'important' in the greater context of 'noise', as it was barely heard by anybody in 1979 when it came out, but this is VITAL listening today.
This song just so eerily foreshadows a lot of 2000-era noise/rock bands. Even down to the humor (a then-anonymous Australian band menacingly shouting purposely bad German) ―, Wednesday, 14 September 2005 19:23 (twelve years ago).
Les Rita Mitsouko are one of my favorite pop bands. The albums have some filler but their singles are consistently incredible. Catherine Ringer starred in the (quality) hard core film Body Love as 'Lolita de Nova' at 17, then married Fred Chiclin and started the band, produced first album with Conny Plank, then two more with Tony Visconti (his next big project after the Bowie albums). I think she's one of the most precisely insane vocalists in pop, up there with Nina Hagen, Kate Bush, Mary Margaret O'Hara, name anyone.
Start with 'Bestov', the compilation, but the s/t is good and 2002's Femme Trombone is great. From 1986 I'll post more if you want, I totally love this band ―, Saturday, 17 September 2005 05:03 (twelve years ago). Noboby's ever been able to explain to me why a band as obscure as the Table, who had 2 singles, one on Chiswick, one on Virgin, with one of those tracks appearing on a comp, have such a thorough and lengthy bio on Allmusic Guide, but there it is for your reading pleasure: A true enigma, the mysterious the Table arrived unexpectedly on the British punk scene in 1977, with their magnificent debut single, 'Do the Standing Still.' A second and final single, 'Sex Cells,' was released before the group disappeared for good. The Table began life back in 1971, under the equally unsuitable moniker Stabbing Jack, the brainchild of two Welsh cartoonists. Russell Young and Tony Barnes shared the vocals, keyboards, guitar, and bass duties, although neither actually owned any of those instruments, a fact that the Cardiff pair proudly proclaimed at every opportunity.
With their own blend of spacy prog-rock, the D.I.Y. Outfit gigged around the neighborhood to little attention, although they did play the Windsor Free Festival in 1974. It took punk to shake the duo out of their inertia, at least momentarily. In 1976, Young and Barnes reinvented themselves as Do You Want a Table, with a lineup augmented by guitarist Mickey O'Connor and drummer Len Lewis. By the end of the year, the band had signed a one-off deal with Virgin, and shortened their name simply to the Table. Not surprisingly, Virgin head honcho Richard Branson was unwilling to commit much time or energy to an enterprise which eschewed owning instruments, refused to tour, and loudly announced they weren't a 'real' band and had no future in music. 'Do the Standing Still'/'Magical Melons of the Tropics' arrived in the spring of 1977.
The perfect dance sensation for punk nihilists, the 45 immediately garnered critical acclaim and a Single of the Week accolade from New Musical Express. Although the group, true to their principles, never toured, they did play occasional, secret gigs, festooning the stage with cartoon graphics. Virgin was under no obligation to push the single, and it's hard to say if the press the band did receive actually worked in their favor or not. Their interviews baffled the most experienced music journalists, and left readers wondering if they really wanted to support a band whose projected debut album threatened to feature the singer reading a shopping list.
Still, there was quite a buzz around them, and if the Table had toured, 'Standing Still' might have actually been more than an underground hit. Instead, the group seemed to deliberately sabotage their chances, and while the song would become a staple of punk-era compilations forever, the Table themselves fell off the radar entirely for over a year. They reappeared without warning in 1978, now as a trio featuring new guitarist Kevin Bannon, on the indie Chiswick label. 'Sex Cells'/'The Road of Lyfe' was even more irrepressible than their debut, and just as doomed to chart failure. Again the group refused to tour, they still had no instruments, and now there wasn't even any talk of an album.
There wasn't any hope of airplay either, not with a chorus that infectiously insisted, 'I'm obsessed with a mad desire for sex with schoolgirls.' The single enlivened dancefloors with its irresistible hooks, but would and could go no further. And neither did the Table. Neither Young nor Barnes was ever heard from in the music world again. And one is left to ponder just what else the pair could have created if they'd been so inclined, and that truly is the enigma of it all. ―, Sunday, 18 September 2005 15:30 (twelve years ago).
Does anyone have any dead jamz from the acid tests? I had a tape years ago, but i lost it years ago too.
I was just reading about the tests somewhere. I don't mean the albums with the kesey rants and such. Just the music. Is their a dead site that has any of that up? Thanks, yer pal, scott i would LOVE to post more music. One of these days i swear i'm gonna get a burner to put my vinyl onto disc. I just need the money.
And i want to find one that actually works. Every time i give vinyl to someone to burn, the cd i get back either skips or sounds like doodoo. ―, Monday, 19 September 2005 14:18 (twelve years ago). Ok, I found one, excuse the shitty quality, this was poorly transfered from a lo-fi 7', but why am I apologizing for fidelity on the noize board?
Anyway, this fucking song, this unbelievably great few minutes of music, is hidden on a no doubt limited edition double 7' somewhere, something you can probably pick up for a buck if you stumble upon it. And it's a crime to america, to the world, that not everyone has this.
It's made even better by having a riff that sounds like the theme song to Degrassi Jr. ―, Tuesday, 20 September 2005 04:06 (twelve years ago). This version's so much better it's nearly funny, though the liner notes & packaging on the new CD are great and keep me from selling it. The piece is written for multiple harpsichords playing simultaneously throughout a huge auditorium while the audience wanders around. The EMF CD just overdubs one person on one harpsichord and mixes everything flat. The original has three performers on three different instruments so you can get a bit more lost in the sound, and mixes Hiller's tape part louder (better). ―, Tuesday, 20 September 2005 19:37 (twelve years ago).
I think it's for real, though I'm guessing it's a multitrack recording that's been carefully mixed & EQ'ed in post to minimize noise - it's definitely not a simple field recording. Several tracks actually do have little flurries of wind noise on them, though they're clearly recording through the pickups so you mainly just get the string vibrations. Found this record in the KFJC new releases section in 95, have made many many copies for people since then ―, Wednesday, 21 September 2005 20:28 (twelve years ago).
It's a cdr bootleg I found in amoeba LA - color xerox packaging with a picture of the log cabin Young was born in on the cover, surrounded by huge titles: TONY CONRAD - THEATRE OF ETERNAL MUSIC which is funny. The original thing was two discs, each one track, I put in track divisions and removed two additional 'Blues' tracks to fit it on one disc. I've never heard the Shandar double album if anyone has a good transfer of that - it's got a 40 minute version of 'Map', also with Hassell but no Rosenboom or Konitz. ―, Friday, 23 September 2005 21:37 (twelve years ago). There were many Young radio marathons, I've got two tapes from a KPFA one & that german 4 CD set that made the rounds two years ago, and there's no overlap in any of them. The table of the elements release is confusing, I know several musicians who say that many people had copies, if only taped off the air, but still with better fidelity & music than 'Day of Niagra'. It almost felt like a conscious smear job from Conrad, putting out something so subpar - 'everyone says your precious, legendary unreleased archive is so great, well I'm going to shame you into releasing some of it by putting out the fuzziest piece of whatever I can find' ―, Friday, 23 September 2005 22:26 (twelve years ago).

That's quite offensive slander, and he's not like that. ―, Friday, 23 September 2005 22:59 (twelve years ago). Well this is all I'm listening to today. The original packaging (at RzWeb) has track times for each track, and they all check out with these mp3's, except for the title track, which is a different edit of bits of 'Wean' & four minutes longer than the time on the box I wasn't sure if the WB Album actually existed in full, because the only tape I've been able to find is a fragmented transfer and I'd heard a rumor that was all there really was.
But this is interesting: ―, Monday, 26 September 2005 17:01 (twelve years ago). Yeah I know, where are they!
Les Rita Mitsouko No Comprendo
I'd love to hear more straight out rock. I liked ddb's comp tracks.
Things don't have to be rarities, chances are half of us haven't heard something btw I checked out 'Day of Niagra' for the first time in a few years the other day. Got to play it as loud as it deserves.
I've totally come around on that record, I loved it. So I was wrong to say 'subpar', it's actually great to have an Eternal Music record that has Conrad & Cale three times louder than anyone else, sounds more like Four Violins than Map of 49's Dream. But it still seems like a real provocation putting out that particular recording, because it sounds completely unlike all the other Eternal Music tapes that have leaked.
They couldn't have found one that minimizes Young & Zazeela's contribution more. Which is actually kind of cool. ―, Friday, 30 September 2005 19:05 (twelve years ago). Ripped off from 2.
On wolf eyes, is there any truth to the chatter of Braxton being a huge fan? Or is it all just kooky Coley-spiel?
Especially this wild post on JazzCorner: 'from thirstin@HNAM 'victo fest - friday - braxton has intense press conference in hotel - after spending 20 minutes on each question where he goes way off on tri-axioms and jazz history metatheoretics. Coley asks last question: 'is it true you cleaned out the wolf eyes merch table at a swedish festival last year?' - braxton leaps up and says wolf eyes are the new universe and he decided right then and there to move to stockholm and become a cook so he could be closer to this music. Then he learns they are from michigan and his worldview is shifted and he realizes that there is hope for america with new angels of art existing here like wolf eyes. He claims his friends now refer to him as anthony 'wolf eyes' braxton. So wolfs and hair po show up and we hit the hotel bar hard and braxton appears after his duo gig with fred frith and connects with wolfs and nate asks braxton if he would like to smoke a joint. 'I would be honored to smoke marijuana with the wolf eyes'.
Again, no shit. Next day braxton is at gig (3 pm) and nate asks braxton if he wants to jam w/ the wolfs and braxton says yes, just let me know when and nate says play the whole gig dude. So after more weed blowing they hit the stage. The audience is all seated at round tables in a huge theatre called the Colisee. Hair police already decimated this crowd, they were awesome. But now we're tripping.
This is too unreal. Braxton swoops in and out of the jams, at one point doing killer long sax tone duets w/ olson.
Nate announces stabbed in the face. And then olson asks braxton what jam they should do next. 'Black Vomit' sez Braxton.
Seriously, no shit. Unbelievable sickness.
That night dead machines/double leopards jammed together till 1 am then back to hotel bar for extreme wind down canada dudes, the fuck. ―, Friday, 7 October 2005 12:28 (twelve years ago). Oy, I'm afraid I just have the LPs and no ripping equipment. You know, probably just best to find affordable copies of the LPs anyway, though, so you can wallow in the whole deal. A friend of mine got a twofer CD of the first two Klaatu albums after I'd been talking about them and I wondered how much he would like them. Turns out he wasn't so into them. I wonder if he might have felt differently if he'd had the LPs rather than digital data reproductions of the LPs.

Here is another of nate's mixes::::: virtual mix tape reality Message: I have made a 'podast' (aka mixtape mp3) for a European record label website that you guys should check out. The tow previous mixes I have put out on the internet (on my webpage www.languagerecovery.org) were based pretty strictly around turn-of-the-seventies psych-folk with some proggish tendencies. This recent podcast really dips into proggier territory, with a healthy dose of fusion-jazz (the most neglected psychedelic genre), while also offering up stoned folk rock and spacy avant-garde stylings. This is the tracklisting: 1. Weather Report - 'Milky Way' from s/t (1971) 2. Parameter - 'Odyssey' from Galactic Ramble (1971) 3.
Larry Coryell - 'Lady Coryell' from Lady Coryell (1969) 4. Workshop - 'Te Bur' from Mundwinkelplage (1998) 5.
![]()
Tony Williams Lifetime - 'This Night This Song' from Turn It Over (1970) 6. Fille Qui Mousse - 'Mirroir Nagait Dans Le Lac.' From Se Tair Pour Un Femme Trop Belle (1971) 7.
Parameter - 'Odyssey II' from Galactic Ramble (1971) 8. Siloah - 'Magic Carpet Ride To The Alps' from Sukram Gurk (1972) 9. La Joven Guardia - 'Despues De La Tormenta' from El Extrano Del Pelo Largo (1969) 10. Dimthings - 'Rain' from Best Of (2005) 11. Lard Free - 'Violez L'Espace De Son Refrigerent' from I'm Around Midnight (1975) 12. Parameter - 'Odyssey III' from Galactic Ramble (1971) 12.
Picchio Dal Pozzo - 'La Floricultura Di Tschincinnata' from s/t (1976) The Coryell and Williams tracks will really give you a taste of what you're missing if you've never given late60s/ early70s fusion a chance (the Coryell with its startlingly original compoisitional approach to a rock song, the Williams with the haunting beauty of his frail, untrained tenor vocals). The last track by Picchio Dal Pozzo is my favorite Italian prog song ever. You can download it here: podcast.htm If you listen to it please let me know what you think! Love, Nate ―, Tuesday, 21 February 2006 04:23 (twelve years ago). GARETH - saunderson from two years ago??
